In June 2005 Wansford Associates were approached by IT healthcare consultants Oberoi Consulting of Derby to build a software system for the "Hypertension On Target" initiative run by Japanese pharmaceutical giant, Sankyo. Today sees the launch of the software which allows hypertensive patients to monitor their blood pressure at home and send in the readings to their doctor by text message from a mobile phone. Each week the GP receives a report tracking the change in each patient's blood pressure so they can monitor the effects of any medication. The software will provide enormous benefits to practices by reducing workloads, speeding up treatment and avoiding a phenomenon known as "White Coat" hypertension.
